August 05, 1998: Well, life the past few months have been interesting to say the least. The baby has been to Oregon. On the way home staying the night at a hotel in Medford she was active enough to wake me from a sound sleep. This was a first, and I suppose not the last. I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It will go away after she is born. I'm glad, cause it's a pain. She's quite active. I can feel it when she wants to stretch (?), when she has the hiccups, and other things too. Chris told Wesley that her ears are working. I can not get by the kid now but what he has to stop me to talk to the baby and ask her how she is, tell her he loves her, etc. I think that this will help in their bonding. So far it looks really good, as if my worries about half-sibling troubles will if there are any (ho ho ho) will be real sibling troubles! We have been shopping at Wal-Mart and looking at baby things. Wesley informs us that we need to get "our" baby some baby things. Yay!
June 25, 1998: Today we had to get an ultrasound because I was spotting again! Yes, it's getting old! But, it was fun to see the baby's heart beating well. And to see her move. Yes, even to me from what I saw, it's a girl! Diane Marie is growing fast!
The following are the four new pictures. The new pictures show that Diane is now due November 16th. The ultrasound lady said that was still in the ballpark from the old date, so the old date will hold. Hope you enjoy. And I hope that the baby isn't screaming at me when she's 20, and realizing that a picture was put on the internet with an arrow pointed at the area that shows she's a girl!
The ultrasound lady told us not to paint the room pink on account of what she said but, she also seemed pretty sure of herself! So, here we go: a picture of the head and chest, a foot view, and legs. Hope you enjoy!

May 08, 1998: This is our baby. We still do not know what sex it is. This ultrasound picture was taken at about approximately 12 weeks and 6 days old. (Ain't technology grand!)

If you look close enough you'll see that the right cross is over the top of the babies head. The left cross is almost not there, but, it marks the rump of the baby. The whitish lines mark the area where the ribs are. And if you look really close you can see little arm stubs. Also, if you look even closer you can see it's heart on the upper part of it's torso. It is very hard to see, that circleish blob. The doctor had to point at it before I saw where it was.
When this was taken, the baby had it's back turned away from the camera, and who in the world can blame him/her! I have two other children and I never saw them move around on a sonogram like I saw this one move. My goodness this baby reminded me of the internet baby. It was really moving. It seemed like it was dancing and throwing punches. I suppose it was exercising though. And of course that made me happy.
May 22, 1998: Went to the doctor today and heard the heartbeat via the Doppler machine today. Chris came in room with me so he got to hear the heartbeat too. This is the best part for me, having a daddy wanting to be involved. Yay! for Chris. We are at around 15 weeks now, not even half way there. Next week I take the AFP blood test to test for brain damage and neural tube diseases. The way that baby was dancing though, I honestly can not imagine it not having a brain or a spinal cord. Next ultrasound will be ordered in four weeks.
June 05, 1998: Went in for another doctor appointment. Got to hear the babies heart beat again! I now have the ultrasound orders in my hand! I need to wait about three more weeks for it, so says the doctor. So, I suppose I'll make the appointment for around July 1st. It really surprised me when the doctor told me that I could take a VCR tape and get the baby on tape now. I have a video card in my computer that will accept a signal from the VCR, so it's gonna be very interesting to see just what we can do with this! haha!!
I know I will have at least one more ultrasound. Already had two! So, check back in about three weeks and you'll see an older CYBER-baby!
Ah! Words of Wisdom from Wesley:
"The baby is growing. When it comes out it will need care. And when my mom goes to college the baby will have stay at a babysitters. And I will be a big brother."
In my humble opinion, these hyperlinks to my favorite family and pregnancy education sites will give anyone a great start:
